Image composed of multiple representations of the same map of the Americas reflecting on the idea of language and territory.

Visual language is a core part of my identity. The top image is an exploration of possible representations of the relationship of territory and language that I developed in 2021.

The image of “Barrio Sinaí” is a map of my childhood neighborhood that includes the red soil, which characterizes the region of Costa Rica where I grew up. The color is due to bauxite, a mineral that caused social manifestations in the region during the 1970s.

I am committed to explore art-based methods to express my concerns, processes and findings as a humanist. My question is how not only analyze the semiotic processes of a given cultural product, but also to insert myself in the production of knowledge in formats that connect to people in other ways, especially connecting with emotions.

In addition to visual language, I have experiences with dance and performance.
